From Seed to Soup:
The Source of Great Taste
Every parent wants their family to enjoy mouth-watering meals made from healthy, natural ingredients, but getting the balance between simple and nutritious can be tricky.
It’s a challenge that Knorr chef Einav Gefen is all too familiar with. Einav is a professionally trained chef and a self-confessed food fanatic. She’s worked with Knorr for years, developing products and recipe ideas that make mealtimes easier for families all over the world, including her own.
“The mission for me is that when a parent cooks dinner for their family, it’s a success. I want the kids around the table to ask for more or to finish their plates,” she says.
But Einav doesn’t just believe in tasty, convenient cooking; she’s equally passionate about Knorr’s sustainability mission and supports its commitment that 100% of their agricultural raw materials will be sustainably sourced by 2020.
The Knorr Partnership Fund also ploughs €1 million a year into grants that help farmers grow their crops and businesses more sustainably. We believe ingredients taste better when they’re grown naturally and with care, which means the benefits are passed on to families every time they tuck into a delicious meal together.
Einav believes that future generations rely on sustainable living. “If we were not being responsible for where our ingredients come from and how they’re grown, our kids would suffer the consequences.”
Knorr, as one of the world’s leading buyers of ingredients such as tomatoes, onions and herbs, recognises its responsibility to suppliers to help them improve yields, preserve biodiversity on their farms, and invest in technology that helps them save water. With the challenges global warming is presenting to farmers – from flooding to drought – sustainable methods are more important than ever.
